There's not much to add when a speaker such as the M5 excels in the areas of midrange naturalness, detailed and delicate highs, perfectly reproduced transients uncolored midbass, and a high-level dynamic presentation. To my ears, Mike Creek has designed a winner in the M5, and Epos has established a new benchmark at the very affordable price of $650 / pair.

The M5 speaker is the smaller of the two bookshelf speakers in the current M series range of products. In designing this fully shielded 2-way bass reflex design speaker, the Epos engineering team has fully considered the demands of today's home theater requirements.

Importantly the speaker equally stands its ground in the world of two-channel audio. The fully shielded M5 uses a 25mm metal dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet. The 137.5mm woofer uses the new Epos die cast aluminium chassis and features a phase plug. The speaker has provision for bi-wiring. If the M5 is used in a home cinema application, the Epos M8 center channel is the ideal choice.

Epos has designed a stand suitable for the M5 the ST35, available in either black or silver. The choice of three finishes in real wood veneer, ensures the speaker will integrate into the furnishings of any home. With a front veneered baffle, the M5 is equally attractive without the grilles and the addition of the Epos name moulded into the tweeter is an elegant feature.
