Genesis 6.1 Loudspeaker System

Genesis 6.1c Center Channel Genesis 6.1sr Surround Channel

The world's first cinema system with 16Hz to 36kHz response from every channel. In the real world, we are surrounded by continuous, unsegmented, full resolution sound. So it stands to reason that when we bring the world into our home theater, our ears demand the same unbroken continuum of sound.

Each channel of the new Genesis Surround System is an absolute fidelity™ channel - including the center and surround speaker systems! Low Frequency Effects (LFE) and infrasonics are equally distributed; delicate high frequencies, including ultrasonics, truly surround you, resulting in unparalleled impact and detail.

No matter how many cinema systems you've heard, you wouldn't have experienced anything this astonishingly real until you've been totally immersed in Genesis absolute surround™.

A FEW POINTS OF INTEREST

Technical Details Finish Options If you are looking for a Center Channel loudspeaker that is extremely musical for multi-channel music, and yet is able to handle the voice channel in films with razor sharp clarity, look no further than the Genesis 6.1c.

Designed to be as flexible as possible, the speaker is a true L/C/R. The G6.1c has a unique rotatable faceplate containing the tweeter and midrange so that it can be used vertically or horizontally. The G6.1c is also LC-tuned to have optimal bass response down to 48Hz from a relatively small cabinet. When placed vertically, it can be used as main left/right speakers. A speaker level thru-put allows convenient connection to the Genesis ServoSub™ 4/8 for full frequency response. The G6.1c partnered with the S4/8 is a center channel system that delivers a full seamless frequency response from 20Hz to 36kHz.

The G6.1c has an identical "voice" to the G6.1 and also the G6.1sr surround speakers, so you can be assured of absolute fidelity™ for multi-channel music, and a consistent "voice" throughout the surround matrix when playing movies. The G6.1c is also the ideal choice as a center channel for all existing Genesis loudspeaker systems.

THE 6.1S

The Genesis 6.1sr Surround Channel is a combination monopole/dipole surround loudspeaker that is designed with an identical "voice" to the audiophile Genesis 6.1 Loudspeaker System, and to the Genesis 6.1c Center Channel. With the G6.1sr, you can be assured of absolute fidelity™ for multi-channel music, and a consistent voice throughout the surround matrix when used in the full Genesis 6.1 Multi-Channel System. This makes it an ideal choice as a surround channel for all existing Genesis loudspeaker systems as well. The G6.1sr is universally installer friendly. Its unique shape and flexible mounting bracket systems allow it to be mounted on a sidewall or rear-wall, or put into a corner. It features an electronic trigger that allows it to be remotely switched from monopole to dipole mode. It also includes a high-level speaker throughput for easy connection to the Genesis ServoSub™ 2/12t surround subwoofer. Partnering the G6.1sr with the S2/12t results in a surround channel system that delivers a full, seamless frequency response from 16Hz to 36kHz.

THE 6.1SR Side Surround Speakers

UNIQUELY DESIGNED FOR MULTI-CHANNEL SYSTEMS

Although Genesis has a 30-year legacy of technologies, new technologies and leading- edge thinking have been applied to design the absolute fidelity™ surround speaker system.

THE G6.1C TWEETERS, MIDRANGE AND MID-BASS COUPLERS Reviewers in the audiophile press have often remarked that the Genesis tweeter is the world's best. This one-inch circular planar ribbon is crafted from an extremely thin membrane of Kapton with a photo-etched aluminum "voice coil" that is a mere 0.0005 inches thick. Since the entire radiating structure has less mass than the air in front of it, the tweeter will accurately reproduce frequencies beyond 35kHz. We have designed a proprietary 5-inch midrange to cover this critical frequency band. Manufactured from pure titanium, one of the lightest and stiffest materials known, our low-mass cone driver is capable of nearly instantaneous transient response, enabling the G6.1sr to sound effortlessly lifelike. In order to deliver the vast dynamic range of a live musical performance or a movie soundtrack, the G6.1sr uses two 6.5-inch mid-bass couplers.

Designed of extremely light and stiff aluminum, the cones are capable of handling huge power and transients, and yet maintain the extremely low coloration that is the hallmark of Genesis.

CROSSOVER DESIGNS Each crossover is designed by computer modeling plus years of knowledge and experience. More importantly, the crossovers are designed with many, many hours of music listening, and constant refining, tuning and tweaking of the circuit. Genesis uses its own custom made capacitors and inductors. We use the finest capacitors available, using the best polypropylene film and tin-foil technology available today. The G6.1sr is essentially three separate loudspeakers in the same cabinet. In monopole mode, a 3-way crossover is used with the front tweeter and midrange, and two mid-bass couplers on the side faces. This is designed with an identical "voice" to the G6.1c center channel, and the G6.1 loudspeaker system from the mid-bass up.

When in dipole mode, the G6.1sr uses two totally separate crossovers. The front face is turned-off, and the two tweeters on the side faces are turned-on. One of the side faces is a 2-way speaker with a tweeter and a mid-bass coupler. On the other side face, a unique phase-shifting crossover is then engaged to power the woofers in-phase at the lower bass frequencies, but shifted 180 degrees out of phase from around 200Hz up. Keeping the lower frequencies in phase allows the G6.1sr to maintain its bass performance in dipole mode, while at the same time sounding diffused and ephemeral for movie surround channel applications.

We had great success at HE2003 June 5-8, 2003 at the Westin-St. Francis in the heart of downtown San Francisco
We showed the New Genesis 6.1 5.1 Speaker System with the McCormack MAP1 and the Theta Dreadnought. Some attendees waited upto an hour to get into the room. I'm happy to say it was the "E" ticket ride for the entire show. I never saw so many happy faces. We now have the 6.1's set up in our store, so plese come and listen for yourself.
